ROSS HANOVER ROAD IMPROVEMENT FUNDING SECURED

Ross Township

The Butler County Engineer’s Office (BCEO) is pleased to announce it has secured a $714,116  grant from the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) to go toward significant improvements to Ross Hanover Road in Ross Township, enhancing safety along a section that has seen multiple serious and fatal crashes in recent years.

The project will include widening lanes and shoulders and improving the existing crest vertical profile and cross slope to meet current roadway design standards. These enhancements are intended to improve driver visibility, comfort, and control—reducing the risk of future serious injury or fatal crashes.

In the interim, the BCEO has taken proactive measures by installing new warning signage to better alert motorists to the hill along Ross Hanover Road, providing an added layer of safety until 2028, when funding becomes available, and construction begins.

“This project represents a critical investment in the safety of our residents and motorists,” said Butler County Engineer Greg Wilkens. “We’ve seen the devastating impact that crashes in this area can have, and with the support of ODOT’s safety funding, we’re taking meaningful steps toward preventing future tragedies.”

The improvements align with the Vision Zero initiative, a nationwide effort to eliminate all traffic-related deaths and severe injuries while increasing safe, healthy, and equitable mobility for all.

The Butler County Engineer’s Office remains committed to identifying and addressing locations where roadway safety can be enhanced through data-driven decisions, partnerships, and community engagement.
